objective
To demonstrate what I have learned throughout the Color Theory course at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) by demonstrating my knowledge of color harmonies and applying them to create design patterns and applying them to ideate different possible book cover designs of the well-known tale Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Afterthoughts
I enjoyed working on this final project because it allowed me to experiment with colors that I usually avoid. It gave me a deeper appreciation for how color can be used to communicate different messages and feelings. This was my first time using Adobe Illustrator, and as someone who prefers traditional art media and creating realistic portraits, I was pleasantly surprised by my ability to create more abstract visuals.
If I could redo this project, I would reconsider my choice of colors for the book titles' fonts. With the knowledge I have now, I would select a different color contrast for the text to make the titles stand out more against the background design and adjust the typography settings accordingly. I would also have experimented with other color palettes using orange and purple playing with more vibrant colors.
